Why We Use Lighter Wine Bottles
When people think about sustainability in wine, they often picture what happens in the vineyard. But one of the biggest environmental impacts actually comes from the bottle itself.
Glass bottles require extremely high temperatures to produce, which means significant energy use. By choosing lighter-weight bottles, we reduce the amount of glass needed and lower the energy and emissions associated with manufacturing.
Weight also matters in transportation. A traditional wine bottle can weigh 900 grams or more before the wine is even added. Our lighter bottles weigh half that. This means less weight in every case we receive or ship, which reduces fuel use and transportation emissions.
Importantly, lighter bottles don’t mean compromising on quality. Modern glassmaking allows bottles to remain strong and reliable while using fewer raw materials.
It’s a simple change, but across thousands of bottles, choosing lighter packaging is one meaningful way we can reduce our environmental footprint while continuing to deliver the wines you enjoy.
